Wallprotex, a provider of wall protection interiors, analyzes construction growth data released regularly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This data, which tracks job growth in the construction field in both cities (more precisely metropolitan areas) and states, was used to design a data visualization that maps both city and state construction data to their geographies as well as show the ranking for each data set.
As of November 2016, Killeen ranked 10th nationally out of 358 cities assessed in this study. With 8,900 construction jobs, Killeen saw growth of 12.66% compared to this time the previous year. The city has ranked in the top 20 nationwide since May 2016, with the highest ranking at 4th in October 2016. This data is significant because consistent job growth in the construction sector indicates more homes and buildings are being constructed. This is a sign that the local community and economy are growing.
