The Killeen Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) has signed a performance agreement with Solix, Inc. to help facilitate the opening of a location in downtown Killeen. Solix will lease the building located at 402 E. Avenue D and is expected to employ up to 175 employees in this location within the first five years of business. The location will serve as a customer care center and will include call center operations.
KEDC will pay the City of Killeen to extend the streetscaping project on Avenue D to 10th Street in front of the Solix building, which was previously planned to end at 8th Street. According to the performance agreement, KEDC has agreed to pay incentives for full time equivalent employees (for up to 175 employees) in Solix’s first five years of operation. KEDC will also pay for improvements to the parking lot, rent additional parking for Solix employees for four years, and pay for the installation of signage on the Solix building.
“After conducting a search and reviewing several opportunities throughout the state, Killeen offered a facility and partnership that will help us serve our customers well, build our business in Texas and provide employees with a modern, refurbished workplace,” said Solix, Inc. CEO Jack Miller. “Solix looks forward to becoming an active member of the Killeen community and a part of Downtown’s resurgence.”
Solix is a leader in providing outsourcing services, including eligibility determination and program administration, to government agencies and commercial customers in the telecommunications and wireless, broadband, utilities, and healthcare sectors. The company, headquartered in New Jersey, has two Customer Care locations in Illinois as well as one in Indiana. Solix’s Grant Management Services business is located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Glenn Morrison, Killeen City Manager, said, “Business development is essential to the revitalization of Downtown, and we are very pleased that Solix has chosen to locate there. Solix’s presence will serve as a catalyst for continued growth in Downtown, and the creation of new jobs will be a great benefit to our local economy.”
KEDC saw the agreement with Solix as an opportunity to help continue the downtown revitalization efforts. Bringing new jobs to downtown will encourage continued growth as more companies are encouraged to move into downtown to meet the needs of these employees as well as current and future downtown residents and employees.
The president of the Killeen Economic Development Corporation, Pat Kaufman, said, “We are excited to have an established company like Solix become a part of our community. The energy these new employees will bring to our downtown community will help to reestablish the vibrancy that downtown needs as it continues to redevelop.”
Management positions for this Solix location have been posted on Monster.com.
